How to sound like a peer on Reddit (not a bot or a vendor)

Tone checks before you paste a draft: useful, peer-level comments that survive subreddit scrutiny.
Reddit punishes salesy comments and rewards usefulness. The underlying advice can be the same as what you'd say on a call; the packaging must feel like a peer in the same seat, not a landing page.

Reddit: show your work
Reddit comments compete on usefulness, not follower count. OP and lurkers decide if you are a peer or a shill in two sentences.
Open with shared context: “We had the same Stripe export mess before board week.” That signals you are not dropping in from nowhere.
Explain tradeoffs, not features. “We skipped BI and used one founder-readable dashboard” beats three bullet points about your product.
Links and product names: use sparingly on first touch. Many subreddits auto-flag obvious promo. Help first; mention what you built only if it directly answers the ask.
Length: long enough to be useful, short enough to read on mobile. Two short paragraphs often outperform one essay.
Example framing
Fact: you replaced a heavy BI rollout with a Stripe-linked view a founder can skim in five minutes.
Reddit framing: “We tried the full BI route first. Overkill for board prep. Ended up with one Stripe-linked view the CEO could skim in five minutes. Happy to share what we track if useful.”
Notice: no pitch deck language, no “book a demo,” same substance.
Voice training: what to paste into Weald
